Toronto, ON – November 3, 2025 — Analog Game Studios is thrilled to announce that Centrix, the visually stunning and mechanically groundbreaking 3D strategy board game, has won the 2025 Sparks Play Strategy Toy & Game Award — recognizing its innovation, creativity, and accessibility in tabletop design.
Centrix is unlike anything that has come before it. Designed by Richard MacRae and Corey Myckan, this “thinking person’s classic” reimagines traditional board gaming in seven stacked levels with six rotating rings, creating a tactile, multi-dimensional puzzle that challenges players to think several moves ahead — both vertically and laterally.
“Centrix was born from the idea that board games could move beyond the flat table surface,” said Richard MacRae, Co-Designer and Publisher at Analog Game Studios. “We wanted to create a game that feels alive in your hands — where you’re not just rolling dice, but solving a living, shifting puzzle each turn.”
In Centrix, 2–6 players race to move their pawns from the outermost level to the summit. But this isn’t your roll-and-move game of old — instead, players draw three cards each turn, combining their powers to rotate rings, advance pawns, or change the landscape itself. Every move requires foresight, creativity, and a bit of daring.
With its sculptural design, premium components, and sleek aesthetic, Centrix blends tactile satisfaction with deep replayability — earning its place as a must-have for both strategy enthusiasts and casual gamers.
“This award validates our belief that innovation in tabletop design is far from over,” added MacRae. “Centrix invites players to literally think in circles — and we’re beyond proud to see it recognized for pushing the boundaries of how games can look, feel, and play.”
The Sparks Play Strategy Toy & Game Awards celebrate originality and meaningful play, recognizing designs that inspire imagination and thoughtful competition. https://sparksplay.org/product/centrix/
Centrix is available now in Canada and the USA through major hobby retailers, select toy stores, and online at analoggamestudios.com

Toronto, ON — October 17, 2025 — Analog Game Studios will be with Changeling Gaming at the Designer Showcase at Junction Craft Brewery on Friday, October 24th from 6–10 PM. This special event will celebrate Toronto’s thriving tabletop game design scene, featuring two exciting titles: the wildly popular family game Centrix and the debut of Schooled, the brand-new release from local game designer Cecil Oakton.
Centrix is a dynamic, fast-paced family game featuring a colourful multi-level rotating board that gets players climbing, spinning, jumping and bumping. Combining strategic movement, surprising twists, and quick thinking, Centrix is known for its easy-to-learn mechanics and high replayability — a hit with players of all ages.
Schooled, designed by Cecil Oakton, will make its first public appearance at the event. Inspired by nature’s own survival strategy, where fish band together in schools for protection, this two-player strategy game challenges opponents to build and protect their own school of fish while navigating ever-changing waters. With striking visuals and elegant design, Schooled is Analog Game Studios’ 10th published title and marks Oakton’s first official board game release.
“It’s incredibly exciting to finally share Schooled with players face to face,” said Cecil Oakton, game designer. “The game was inspired by my fascination with how cooperation and competition coexist in nature — and I can’t wait to see how people respond to that dynamic on the table.”
“We’re thrilled to be partnering again with Changeling Gaming and to showcase not just one, but two Toronto-designed games,” said Richard MacRae, President and Publisher at Analog Game Studios. “Centrix continues to thrill families everywhere, and Schooled is a perfect example of the creativity and innovation that drives the Canadian game design community.”
The Designer Showcase is pay what you can, and guests are invited to enjoy an evening of great craft beer, hands-on gameplay, and conversations with the designers themselves.

Inspired by the survival tactics of fish that band together in schools, Schooled is a head-to-head two-player board game where players compete to build and protect their own school of fish while blocking their opponent’s moves. Its engaging mechanics, streamlined rules, and vibrant design make it equally appealing for casual players, families, and dedicated board gamers alike.

[Toronto, May 25, 2021] – Following on the Kickstarter releases of “King of Indecision”, “Latte Throwdown” and “Duels of Cartisora” during 2020, Analog Game Studios is pleased to announce that its first Kickstarter for 2021 will see the launch of “Torus”, the game of abstract logic, played across a grid representing the surface of a donut-shape known as a Torus. Originally published as “CTOR” in Europe, where it sold over 100,000 copies, this lavish new production reboot, for North American release, is a critically acclaimed strategy masterpiece designed by Dr. Bronn who needed to teach his students mathematical applications in cellular biology that overcome “boundary conditions”.
“We’re very excited to be publishing Dr. Bronn’s extremely successful board game and look forward to supporting the international Championships associated with the games’s success, as soon as social distancing restrictions allow competitive events to resume”, said Richard MacRae, Publisher at Analog Game Studios. “For now, our sole focus is to launch and manage a successful Kickstarter for the game’s North American reboot launch, which goes live on June 1st at 8:00 EDT.”
The Kickstarter for “Torus” will be seeking crowd funding for the production and distribution of the game throughout Canada and the United States and there will be some special benefits exclusively available to Kickstarter backers for this campaign including a retail backer opportunity.
One of the unique aspects of this otherwise 2-player strategy game is the solo variant that allows players to challenge their right intuitive brain against their left analytical brain. This is a key feature that gives Torus its moniker as a ‘brain-game’. Players that play in Solo Mode will find out which side of their brain is predominant and can, in effect, exercise and strengthen their ‘weaker’ side.
Watch for “Torus” coming to Kickstarter – the game in which Alexey Pajitnov, creator of Tetris, observed: “The circle of your game’s fans has already formed and will continue to grow.” and Ernõ Rubik, inventor of Rubik’s Cube, said: “Your game is wonderful!”
